Something Different for Your Conference, Without the Risk

Conference guests in a hotel function room getting ready for a drumming team building session

Conference organisers know the feeling. The client wants this year's event to feel different, but nobody wants to be the one who suggested something that falls flat. Here's how a drumming session can slot into a conference programme with very little risk and a lot of upside.

Why clients hesitate

Most hesitation comes from the unknown. Will people join in? Will it feel cheesy? Will it eat into the schedule? They're fair questions. In our experience, the people who are most unsure at the start are often the loudest drummers by the finale.

Use the lunch break

One of the easiest ways to fit drumming in is to use time you already have. While delegates eat, our team and the venue staff reset the room: drums out, chairs moved, sticks ready. When people walk back in, the space looks completely different, and the energy lifts before anyone has played a note.

What the organiser needs to sort

  • Your numbers and the time slot (lunch, a mid-afternoon lift or a closing session)

  • A room that can be reset, and a quick word with the venue team about access

  • That's about it. We bring the drums, the sticks and an experienced team of facilitators

No musical experience is needed. Big drums, smaller drums and hand-held percussion mean everyone can take part, whether you have 20 delegates or 500.

A recent example

We recently worked with an events agent whose client had never tried anything unusual at their conference. Seven of us ran a lunchtime session for 120 delegates. The CEO was a little nervous going in and over the moon by the end, and the organiser was relieved and delighted. Read the full case study on our main site.
